Understanding Instagram Activity Status Feature

The green dot on Instagram indicates when someone is currently active on the app. Understanding and controlling this feature is important for your privacy.

What the Green Dot Means

It appears next to profile pictures in the DM section and indicates active usage or recent activity.

How to Disable Activity Status

• Go to Settings, then Privacy, then Activity Status
• Toggle off "Show Activity Status"
• Note: Disabling this also hides others' activity from you
